Northend United 1 Lisburn Distillery 0 Saturday 27th April 2024

With the final game of the season this week, the squad got a Saturday morning game against Lisburn Distillery at Lisburn Rec. Conditions were awful and credit to both teams. The team started off brightly with the midfield of Alfie, Keane, Dylan and Joseph battling hard and creating chances for Odhran upfront. The back three of Iona, Finn and Charlie were being well marshalled by stand in keeper Eoghan in nets, allowing them to play from the back and snuffing out any chances. Half time 0-0

The second half continued as the first with the team creating chances but now with the introduction of Philip, Shane and Connor there was a different threat. The only goal of the game was a penalty from Odhran. Full time 1-0

Northend United 2 Camlough Rovers 1 Saturday 20th April 2024

This week the squad got a Saturday morning game v Camlough at Lisburn. The team started off brightly with the midfield of Alfie, Keane, Dylan and Joseph battling hard and creating chances for Odhran upfront. The back three of Iona, Finn and Charlie were being well marshalled by Corey in nets, allowing them to play from the back and snuffing out any chances.

The second half continued as the first with the team creating chances but now with the introduction of Philip, Shane, Conor and Eoghan there was a different threat. Goals on the day from Odhran and Dylan would be the difference. Full time 2-1

This week the squad got a Saturday morning game against Oxford Sunnyside at Lisburn. The team started off brightly with the midfield of Alfie, Keane, Dylan and Joseph battling hard and creating chances for Odhran upfront. The back three of Iona, Finn and Charlie were being well marshalled by Corey in nets, allowing them to play from the back and snuffing out any chances. Half time 0-0

The second half continued as the first with the team creating chances but now with the introduction of Philip and Eoghan there was a different threat. Chances would come and go but the game would end up an entertaining 0 -0 draw and both sides left happy. Full time 0-0

Northend United 1 Colin Valley 3 Saturday 6th Apriil 2024

This week the squad got a Saturday morning game v Colin Valley at Lisburn in the Semi Final of the Cup. Conditions weren’t great with Storm Kathleen causing havoc. The team started off brightly with the midfield of Alfie, Shane, Dylan and Joseph battling hard and creating chances for Odhran upfront. The back three of Iona, Finn and Charlie were being well marshalled by Corey in nets, allowing them to play from the back and snuffing out any chances. However, it was Colin Valley who would take the lead into half time with a finish at the back post. Half time 0-1

The second half continued as the first with the team creating chances but now with the introduction of Conor, Keane, Philip and Eoghan there was a different threat. It was Finn who would equalise with a long range effort, but it would be heart ache on the day as Colin Valley would get a second wind assisted goal and the third quickly followed as we pushed for the equaliser. Full time 1-3

This week the squad got a Saturday morning game v Lower Maze at Crewe in the first round of the Cup. The team started off brightly with the midfield of Alfie, Shane, Joseph and Philip battling hard and creating chances for Odhran upfront. The back three of Iona, Eoghan and Charlie were being well marshalled by Corey in nets, allowing them to play from the back and snuffing out any chances.

The second half continued as the first with the team creating chances but now with the introduction of Conor there was a different threat to the Lower Maze team. With some well taken goals the team are safely through to the next round. Full time 4-0

Saturday morning saw the second game in the new league format against a team we had played twice before that ended up in exciting draws. In a cold and blustery morning it was Lisburn who took advantage of a strong wind to rush into a first half lead that we couldn’t get back.

The half time team talk asked for a reaction, which saw us create a few chances but the goal wouldn’t come.
